In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song during the course of the space of six months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that attracted attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's success in 2017 19 songs mostly composed in Spanish made it to the top 100. The number grew to 41 in 2020. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages to Despacito (2017) popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma on Medellin (2019). In the year 2020, some reggaeton musicians were unhappy with the way it was moving toward mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a member of a brand new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the direction of. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
